Through the "From Journey to NGO" scientific and cultural tour, new students at the University of Kurdistan visited historical sites in Sanandaj and learned about the potential for social engagement through non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
New Students Explore Sanandaj's Cultural Heritage and Opportunities for Social Activism
According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the "From Journey to NGO" tour for new students was organized by the university's Vice-Presidency for Cultural and Social Affairs in collaboration with the provincial Directorate-General of Sports and Youth. The program was executed by the university's Tourism Club and the Scientific Association of Tourism.
During the event, held on Monday, November 20th, one hundred students from the University of Kurdistan participated in morning and afternoon sessions, visiting historical landmarks such as the Kurd House (Asef Vaziri Mansion) and the Sanandaj Museum. They were introduced to the rich cultural, historical, and architectural aspects of the city.
The cultural tour continued with a special workshop at the Almas-e Gharb Tourism Complex, where students were familiarized with the concept, structure, and functions of NGOs. This was designed to create a foundation for nurturing their creative ideas and encouraging their active participation in social activities.
It is noteworthy that this program was designed to enhance cultural awareness, strengthen student interactions, and forge a link between knowledge and social responsibility. It will be repeated in the coming weeks for students from other universities in the province.
