The Department of Agricultural Extension and Education at the University of Kurdistan, with the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, commenced its Master of Science program in Agricultural Extension and Education, specializing in "Sustainable Agricultural Extension and Natural Resources," in 2013. Subsequently, in 2017 and 2020, the department received authorization from the Ministry to admit students in two additional specializations: "Agricultural Innovation and Entrepreneurship" and "Sustainable Agricultural Education and Environment."
In 2022, the department obtained a permit to launch a Bachelor of Science program in Agricultural Extension and Education Engineering, with the first intake of students in October of the same year. This development facilitated the formal separation of the "Agricultural Economics" and "Agricultural Extension and Education Engineering" departments. The primary objective of establishing this department and its programs is to educate and train individuals who can, by leveraging their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in agricultural sciences, effectively disseminate modern technologies, practices, and ideas to enhance agricultural production and foster rural development among farmers and rural communities.
