Introduction of Two New Species of the Genus Anisotaenia (Apiaceae) from Kurdistan Province, Published in the Journal Phytotaxa

In line with the research activities of the University of Kurdistan Herbarium, a scholarly article introducing two new species of the genus Anisotaenia (Apiaceae family) from Kurdistan Province has been published in the peer-reviewed journal Phytotaxa. One of these species has been named Anisotaenia ghazanfarii in honor of the invaluable contributions of the late Dr. Hedayat Ghazanfari, former professor of the Forestry Department at the Faculty of Natural Resources, University of Kurdistan. This species was collected at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters between the villages of Boulasen and Alut in Baneh County. The second species, collected from the village of Bandol in Marivan, was named Anisotaenia avromanica after its geographical habitat, the Avroman region. This species grows in rugged, rocky terrains and is classified as highly rare and endangered. Both species are aromatic plants, and further studies on their chemical composition, ecological restoration, propagation techniques, and conservation strategies present highly suitable research topics for postgraduate theses and doctoral dissertations..
